DIVINE BY DESIGN

There is not,
never has been,
never will be,
anyone like you.
Why?
Because you are divine by designed.
Why?
Because you were designed by the Divine

This is true
for each of us.
We are each Divine originals.
What if we were intentional
about seeing the uniqueness
in each other.
What if we focused on seeing
the Divine in each other and
celebrating that uniqueness
and beauty?

This is an original you do not
need to be wealthy to own.
We just walk the runways of life,
showing off and modeling
for the world
the features sewn into us.
So go on out and
strike a pose.
Let the world see the
top model in you and
know you are Divine by Design,
because you were designed
by the Divine.

PIED BEAUTY

Recently, I was challenged to see the beauty in a series of things mentioned in a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins, called Pied Beauty. For those who are not familiar with it, and for those who are, here is the poem.

Glory be to God for dappled things –

   For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;

      For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;

Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;

   Landscape plotted and pieced – fold, fallow, and plough;

      And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;

   Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)

      With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;

He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:

                                Praise him.
