Song of the Week

This 1969 song tempers optimism with reality. If you look hard enough you can find something redeeming in even the worst of situations.

Best words of wisdom from the song:

You can't always get what you want

And if you try sometime, you find

You get what you need.

Song of the Week

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards describes a world where everything is in turmoil. Cops are criminals, and all the saints are sinners. The Devil is not a monster but "a man of wealth and taste." The nature of his game is puzzling, unless we see it in terms of the spiritual practice of shadow. Then it all becomes a bit clearer, especially the suggestion that we are all accomplices in other acts of violence. "If you meet me," says the Devil, "have some courtesy, have some sympathy and some taste." https://youtu.be/vBecM3CQVD8
