EMPATHY

When I think of
Empathy
I tend to think of
empathizing
with another person’s sorrow,
disappointment, and
pain.
I think of tasting the salt
in someone else’s tears
Empathy is
about oneness between us.
It means I can feel with you
and be in oneness with you
in good times and bad
I can taste the sweetness
in your joy as well as
the salt in your tears.
Empathy is
about me journeying with you
and thinking about when I was
in that place or situation
and how it felt.
Empathy is
about the intimacy between us
and between us and the Divine
which connect us.
it is about knowing
someone is with us
in good times and bad
Empathy is
about sharing
about caring
about being intimate
about allowing the Divine in me
to connect with the Divine in you.
Empathy is
about us connecting
as one
in good times and bad
because we care
and know we are
both images of the Divine.

PAPER TABERNACLES

It was decades ago
when she left three little pieces of paper
on my treadmill that said
I
Love
You
They still are with me
in my drawer.
They are sacred, holy and
a paper tabernacle
holding the gift of love
from the one who loves me
unconditionally
Her notes are not alone.
They are accompanied
by sacred notes from others
images,
gifts of sacred love from others
Through writing we can express
our intimacy,
our friendship,
our love,
what others mean to us.
Our letters have the potential
to become someone’s
paper tabernacle

A holy space
where the sacred gift of love is stored
where one keeps reminders of what one means,
the friendship we share,
the intimate moments,
which bond us together.
They are more than just pieces of paper.
They are sacred and holy.
They are paper tabernacles.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

If we want more intimate relationships with others, lets begin by breaking down the barriers with the tools of apology and forgiveness.

WHAT I KNOW

The other day I challenged my readers to think about what they know, not what they believe, but what do they have that deep knowing about, that unshakable faith about. After having put that out there for people to think about, I realized I needed to do the same. I needed to articulate what I know, not what I believe. Today, this is my intent, to begin to articulate what I know and pray that the words exist to help me explain the unexplainable.
One thing I know for sure is that there is an Ultimate Consciousness in the Universe and regardless of what one believes, the journey one is on, or what one even calls this source, it exists. To discuss how one calls upon this source is something I choose not to do. It is as productive as discussing whether one calls a carbonated beverage soda, pop, coke, etc. What is important, for me, is that one acknowledges one’s source. How I have called upon this Divine source has changed over time in my life and still changes depending on whom I am speaking with about the Divine.
