EMPATHY

When I think of
Empathy
I tend to think of
empathizing
with another person’s sorrow,
disappointment, and
pain.
I think of tasting the salt
in someone else’s tears
Empathy is
about oneness between us.
It means I can feel with you
and be in oneness with you
in good times and bad
I can taste the sweetness
in your joy as well as
the salt in your tears.
Empathy is
about me journeying with you
and thinking about when I was
in that place or situation
and how it felt.
Empathy is
about the intimacy between us
and between us and the Divine
which connect us.
it is about knowing
someone is with us
in good times and bad
Empathy is
about sharing
about caring
about being intimate
about allowing the Divine in me
to connect with the Divine in you.
Empathy is
about us connecting
as one
in good times and bad
because we care
and know we are
both images of the Divine.

SONG OF THE WEEK

“This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill, Fifteen percent concentrated power of will ,Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain”. Focus and work hard, it’s not going to be plain sailing, but if you want to reach your destination, you need determination. -- I needed this song to remind me to never give up. Hope it speaks to you as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=88&v=VDvr08sCPOc&feature=emb_logo

SONG OF THE WEEK

I love this week's song of the week because it reminds me how little we understand about what it means to be human and how much we have in common with people around the world https://youtu.be/DM8Tm9ycGz4

THANK YOU

To all the people who have gotten on my nerves,
Thank you.
You have taught me so much
about myself.
You have taught me to
turn the mirror on myself
and see that same quality
in myself and learn from it,
so thank you.
To all the people who have hurt me
Thank you.
You too have taught me to
look at why I allowed you to do so.
You helped me grow and become
more aware of where I needed to heal,
what expectations I needed to release, and
what else I needed to release in my own life,
so thank you.
To all the people who have not lived up
to my expectations.
Thank you.
You have taught me to look at what
I was still expecting and not aware o.
You have reminded me of the difference
between expectation and agreement.
You have helped me to seek clarification,
in those situations where I did not have it,
so thank you.
To all those who have helped me to grow,
because something you did hurt me,
disappointed me,
let me down,
irritated me,
or just got on my last nerve,
thank you.

SONG OF THE WEEK

This week's song of the week reminds me that we are the masters of our sea. It is our experiences in life, the challenges we have made it through which create our belief system and give us faith. https://youtu.be/7wtfhZwyrcc

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

May we open ourselves to feeling the pain of others, so we may help heal the world.

WHEN YOU CAN SEE THE GOOD

When you can see the good,
in any situation
then you know
you will be ok.
My Bubby’s wisdom
lingers in my mind today.
She taught me that there
is a blessing in any situation.
Look for the blessing and
keep looking until you find it.
Then you will be ok
That lesson lives within me.
It has helped me find the good
when I could not see it.
It has kept me looking for the blessing
when I did not want to face the challenge.
It has been what keeps me focused
on the goodness
It has helped me face the difficulties.
move through my shadows
It has become a teacher
given me new vision and
shifted my attention.
Thank you Bubby for teaching me
to have vision that can see
that which alludes me.
for teaching me how to see,
hear,
feel,
and understand the goodness

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

We have the power to heal our own lives. We just have to be willing to do the work to heal.

SPEAKING WITH INTEGRITY

Dear God,
I am grateful for this month of reflecting on my own worth. In doing so, I have been reminded of how important it is to me to speak with integrity. It reminds me of a conversation I had with a colleague recently about knowing when to allow myself to speak and when I need to breathe love into my being and remember the Sufi teaching about the questions I must answer before speaking. Is what I want to say truthful? Is it necessary? Is it kind? It parallels the teachings of Toltec Wisdom and don Miguel Ruiz about being impeccable with my word. When I speak with integrity, I am only saying what I mean and when I combine it with the Sufi teaching; I know that how I say what I mean also comes from an intent of love.

I AM NOT A VICTIM

Dear God,
I would like to thank you for the reminder that everything, which happens in my life, is for the good, even when I do not realize it now. Others may look at my life and see the trials and tribulations. I look at my life and give thanks for all you have done for me. I have actively chosen to believe that you do not do things to me as some form of punishment, but for me as a tool to help me grow and continue to be of service. Yes, I have had others say hurtful things to me, but you have taught me that their words are about them, not me. Yes, I have had others abuse me, but their pain, which they targeted towards me, is about them, not me. It is only about me if I believe it is about me and as you have taught me through the teachings of don Miguel Ruiz. The words and the language I use have power and I choose to use words that create positive realities and energy. It is through my word that I create and this power to create is a gift you bestowed on me.

SET YOURSELF FREE

If you had the opportunity to free yourself from an emotional, mental, spiritual, or physical jail would you? That may sound like a strange question, but it is one, which requires some reflection. Over the course of our lives, we experience things, which can create painful memories on various levels (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically). As long as we hold on to the pain of those memories, we create an energetic tie to the moment in which they occurred or the cumulative effect of painful memories over time.
As I have shared in previous reflections, I learned of some amazing people in this world who model forgiveness and its liberating affect in their lives, while watching a documentary called The Power of Forgiveness.
