This week's song of the week reminds us to be ourselves and not worry about anything as long as we know we are doing our best. It does not matter if others think it is our best, as long as we know it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=74&v=F9IAY6upi0E

FONDUE, ME AND YOU

It has been a few years since I have written about fondue, but given that this is National Fondue month, it is a good time to reflect on Fondue again. Fondue is one of those foods which has varied in its popularity over time. However, in some cultures, like Switzerland, fondue is a sacred food. For one very simple reason. It is a meal you can share with people you love. There are some spiritual values in fondue, which are difficult to find in other types of meals.
Fondue is about more than people gathering around a table to share a meal. Fondue is a communal dish. Each and every person gathered around the table is connecting with each other every time they dip something into the fondue pot. It is not so important what is in the fondue pot. It can be cheese, chocolate, or some other form of awesomeness. Nor does it matter what one is dipping into the fondue pot. It could be cheese, berries, or some other delicious dipper. It is the process of sharing a pool into which we all enter and engage.
Eating fondue reminds us to slow down and appreciate time with each other. Especially in this season, we are busy. Eating fondue is a time to sit down, share a homemade meal, sit, talk, and share an experience. Eating fondue allows us to share food and conversation with those we love.

PUT YOUR MASK ON FIRST

It has been several years since I have been on a plane, but I remember the flight attendants always telling us in an emergency to put our oxygen masks on first before helping anyone else. This is similar advice to what I was given during my spiritual formation. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. Practicing you this month means we have to remember to put our masks on first. Today, I thought I would share a few practical ways to take care of ourselves in our daily lives.
1.     Unplug from the energy zappers.
We all have people in our lives who are energy zappers. They are those folks who make you feel like increasingly tired the longer you are around them. When you start to feel emotionally, mentally, and even physically drained around certain people, excuse yourself and find a quiet place to be and let your energy level rebuild. This is not to say that those individuals are bad people, just that they zap your energy and your ability to be present for yourself and thus for others. Unplug, put your mask on and breathe.

FULFILL YOUR DESTINY

What reminds you to fulfill your destiny?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Remember each day to take a moment to hearing all that the Divine has to whisper in your ear. Open yourself up to hearing and acknowledging all the inner revelations, including those which show you that you are greater then your evaluation of yourself

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

You are worthy of loving and paying attention to yourself. Others are also worthy of being loved and having your attention. We are all worthy.

DO YOU

This has been a fast-paced and hectic week for me. I was having a hard time quieting my brain enough to get inspired. I was torn between reflecting on an ingredient or a product. This morning, I woke up to a reminder on Facebook of a blog I wrote three years ago today. As I reread it, I laughed as it fits perfectly with our spiritual practice this month -- you. I took this as a sign to share my thoughts again.
It has been a while since I posted here, while I have been resting, healing, and preparing for the next round of surgery. However, I was reminded of something last night that resonated with my soul and that is in all things to do you. I was watching a special episode of Chopped (no surprise to those who read this blog often) and Katie Lee, one of the competitors, was surprised that she won. In reflecting on it, she talked about how she thought she had won because she had stayed true to who she was. Katie is best known for her comfort foods and that is what she cooked all three courses, foods filled with memories of growing up and cooking with her grandmother and mother. She gave the judges her on a plate.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

There is more to a book then what the cover reveals. There is far more to each person then what you see. Take the time to get to know yourself and others.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

God loves you just as you. You are not more or less then God's evaluation and appreciation of you. So accept that you are a creator of the Divine. You are divine by design because you were designed by the Divine.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Each of us is differently gifted, and that is how it should be. So celebrate your gifts because you were the one who was meant to have them and celebrate the gifts of others for they are the ones who were meant to have them.

SONG OF THE WEEK

This week's song of the week reminds us that we don’t need to try so hard in order for people to like us. We don’t need to change. We just need to be ourselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXoZLPSw8U8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

It does not matter what others think or say about you, or even what you say about you. Know this, you are enough just as you are.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

At the core of who we are is the desire to know and be known. Being known and knowing ourselves can be scary because it makes us vulnerable, but it is what we are called to do

AND I'M FEELING GOOD!

Who has helped you feel most positive about yourself?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

No matter what you are feeling at any moment in time, you are always an expression of the Divine. So even when you want to curl up and cry you are an expression of the Divine

BE YOU

This morning I was thinking about this month’s spiritual practice. I had this epiphany that my wife has taught me so much about the spiritual practice of you. One of the first things she said to me when we were dating is that she was allergic to makeover queens. She defined them as those people who placed conditions on love. They are those people who say I would love you if _________ (you can fill in the blank).
I am not sure about anyone else, but I have known more than my share of people who have always let me know I was not enough of something or too much of something. I never quite fit their approval just as I was. The reality, I came to understand, is that it didn’t matter what I did, I would never be cast in their storyline because I would never have their unconditional love and acceptance.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Being loving is one thing, being aware of how we are opening ourselves up to radiating love to and receiving love from others is another story. It is the difference between living and living on auto-pilot.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Everyday is filled with opportunities to become wiser and to be able to love unconditionally. Life is our classroom, what you learn depends on your willingness to show up, study, and do your homework.

MY THEME SONG

I remember growing up being taught that my name was a legacy. I was told my name was changed to Sharon because my parents wished for me to become progressively happy in my life. My Hebrew name is Sarai Bella, which means beautiful princess. This was the legacy I was given when my family named me. Consciously or unconsciously, this seems to have become a part of my life. Each day I find myself moving to a greater and deeper level of happiness. Perhaps it in this same sense that I am growing into the calling of nobility that was prophesied for me when I was adopted into my family.
I have been thinking a lot about this today because I was recently asked a similar question. What is your theme song? See it is one day for others to prophesize about you with your name, but when I adopt a song as my theme song or am given one by someone else, it has the same effect. As far as I know, nobody has ever given me a theme song, so I decide to select one for myself. The one I decided to make my theme song is “If I were brave,” by Jana Stanfield. I picked this song because it is a reminder that if I believe that I can and that you are with me in this journey, then I can accomplish anything that I feel led to accomplish. This video is filled with the stories of women who embraced their courage and bravery and followed their heart.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Being of service to others does not mean we are better then them. It simply means we are being of service. Those who are of service to us, does not make them better then us, they are like us simply being of service.
